Blessing Our Children

Psalm 127:3 says” Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.

When was the last time did you bless your children? And no, I am not talking about giving them possessions.

God says our children are a heritage from the Lord which means we are to say blessing over our children. I remember when I was a single parent. The first day my daughter started school we would stand in the middle of our living room and I would pray over her before she left out the door.

I would pray she would remember everything her teachers taught her, I would pray she pass her test and pray that no harm in any way would come her way. I prayed that her teachers would find it a pleasure to have her in class. I prayed that she would exceed in all her studies. I did this if she was in school.

When she became a teenager, those prayers became more intense because she was at the age where she can make a few of her own decisions. And though I did not always approve I prayed that God would guide and give her wisdom to make the right choice.

Now my daughter is married and have her own family. I mommy still prays for her my son in law and my grandbabies. The best thing as a parent that we can ever do for our children is to teach them how to pray. What I taught her she has passed down to her children. My grandson who is ten years old tells me how he prays and talk to Jesus.

Our children are a heritage from the Lord and though they can take us through some storms in life, as my mother would say” while they are little you carry them in your arms when they get older you carry them in your heart.” So very true indeed.

I challenge all parents rather your children live home with you or not start today by praying for your children, they are our inheritance and God has entrusted them in our care. Pray for direction, guidance, finances, careers, friends and above all that they keep Jesus the center of their lives.

  1. Wow! This was such a great post. I love, love it. I pray for my children…all grown… and especially my grandchildren. I love to watch how the Spirit of God grows in their little hearts. My one son’s family always has the Christian music station on in the car. Whenever I visit, my grand daughter, (who is eight), and I sing along with the songs; her tiny voice bellowing Praise from the back seat. She knows all the words to most of them and my heart jumps for joy when I hear her little voice praising God.

My Grandson (who is ten)has the Christian music on as well while he works on the computer or plays games on line. He will even put it on the TV during dinner. I know that God has blessed and answered my prayers.

My other two sons, however are struggling with their faith and they are continually on my heart and in my prayers daily. I know that I am the light of Christ in my grand children’s lives. They know Jesus and we talk about Him whenever I visit.

I know that God knows the ache in my heart and hears my prayers. All I can say to those that have the same desperate prayer for their families, is God knows. God hears. God sees and God has them all in the Palm of His hand. Keep planting seeds of faith and pray that He will send people into their lives that will nurture those seeds of faith.

Thank You for your words today. They stirred my soul enough to make me stop what I was doing and to pray for them. Blessings Dear Friend. VICTORIA

Victoria, thank you so much for sharing your blessings.

You mentioned how your other two are struggling. They will come around you planted that seed in them. Word of God says train up a child in the way they should go and and when he is old it will not depart from him.

Which means they have no other choice but to come back to God. I will be praying for them as well.

My grandkids now say the blessing over the food instead of their parents now.

It really is a blessing. When we bless our children by teaching them the way of Christ. What we are leaving them is a legacy which will be passed down to their children’s children.

Blessings to you and your family.
And thank you so much for sharing.

  5. I really enjoyed this blog! It is always a pleasure to hear things like this. You gave her a heritage of faith and now she and her husband are depositing a heritage of faith in their children. This is part of expanding the kingdom and it’s always beautiful to see! Wonderful Jesus!

Thank you my lady. My mother taught us about and showed us how to pray. And the importance of it.

Because of her blessing us with this legacy I passed it on to my daughter. Now her kids will pass it on.

Thank you for always engaging. 🙏🙏🙏
