Open Eyes Open Heart

Good morning, I hope you are having a great day so far. There is a song called, “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” It is song by Michael W. Smith.

The lyrics are as follows. “Open the eyes of my heart Lord, open the eyes of my heart, I want to see you, I want to see, see you high and lifted up, shinning in the light of your glory, pour out your power in love as we sing holy, holy, holy.

What a beautiful song indeed. I was thinking about this song and its meaning, I asked myself this question are my eyes and heart open? We say we want God to open the eyes of our heart so that we can see God. But the minute God does we ignore what He shows us. There are people in this world that will never pick up the bible to read it, that is a fact, the only way that they are going to see God is through us.

Jesus tells a story of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46  For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,  I was a stranger and you did not invite me in. I needed clothes and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

Family we are an extension of God’s hand to others. How many times have you seen people on the street corners begging for money? We all have seen it, some of us will reach in our purse and give them money, or perhaps buy them a meal. While others will say they need to get a job, or they are just scamming folks.

There was a time in my life when I use to say that they are scamming, and I would not give. Then one day the Lord dealt with me. He told me that it is not my job to know what they will do with the money you give. Let me God deal with their hearts you just be obedient to me.

And so, one day while I was out walking towards a store, I saw a man sitting on the street with a can in his hand. I reached in my purse and give the man money. The man thanked me.

Another instance that happen I was at Walmart, getting a cart when I saw this woman with her baby in a stroller. She had a sign saying she needed formula for her baby, I approached the woman and asked, “what type of formula do you need? And I will go purchase it for you now?

The lady said no, just give me the money. But I did not give her the money. Surely if the woman needed formula and I was willing to purchase it, why would you say no? Baby formula is not cheap. When I left the lady and went inside to do my shopping, I said Lord, was she scamming me?

God’s reply was, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. It is easy for a person to think that they are being scam, and so they choose not to give.

You and I will probably never be able to give to every person we see in a day. I do believe that God honors when we give to the less fortunate. I do believe that giving reflects what is in a mans heart. Let us be truthful, we find giving a struggle. No wonder God has so much to say about giving.

Do not let what you think a person might or might not do be your reasoning for not giving. Let God deal with their hearts, you be obedient to what God says.

Remain thirsty and God will pour into you!

Absolutely! It is our nature to judge those around us,but God calls us to love them. Yes, we are to be wise and ask God to help us be discerning. If we are willing to be used by God, He surely will.
Thank you for your post. Very encouraging. God bless you.❤️

This is a great post. I really liked when you said, “We say we want God to open the eyes of our heart so that we can see God. But the minute God does we ignore what He shows us.”

Sometimes we think we know better even God tells us otherwise. I also loved when you said:

“… it is not my job to know what they will do with the money you give. Let me God deal with their hearts you just be obedient to me.” This is something that I was just talking about in my Bible study.

It’s not our job to know what they will do with the money, but to be obedient to God.

I love that song one of my favorites!! I could sing it all day. I fact might turn it on as I pack! Great share 💜🙏🏻

  14. Thank you for sharing the secrets of advancing the kingdom of God. Proverbs 19:17 says Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward them for what they have done. So we just have to do our part and let God touch the heart the way He knows how. Powerful revelation!

  15. desirayl says:

Exactly Zama, we all have a part in this.

  16. desirayl says:

I know right? I love it we sing it in our church. Every time I hear this song. I always want to have my eyes and heart open. AMEN

    Enjoy your packing!

Good day Joshua, thank you for taking the time to read and comment. That is awesome that you had this same discussion in your bible study. God is trying to tell us something for sure.

    Blessings to you and yours!

Good evening, so glad that you stopped in today. I read your about me page. You are a surrogate and I think that is truly a blessing. To be able to give to those who can not have kids. That is a blessing indeed.

That is great. It really is a lovely song.

  21. You hit it on the head! But I think the most important point for me, is that God spoke to you about it. When He speaks, there’s no argument we can make against it! Wonderful Jesus!

  22. desirayl says:

Bless you my sister. We serve a God who is always there for us. He speaks to us all the time.

    Thank you for commenting.

  23. Jeff says:

I started giving money to a homeless guy that I see on my way to work. I would see him once every week or so. I learned his name. Steven. I never had time to stop and talk to him, because it was a busy intersection where he walked. But I prayed for him, and still do, sometimes, when I pass that intersection. I have not seen him now, in months. I hope that he got his life turned around.
Jesus told us to give to everyone who asks us. That is certainly challenging, and, I believe, also requires discernment. But, as you said, He never asked us to judge their motives.

  24. desirayl says:

Jeff that is wonderful what you did. I hope the mans life change around too. Thanks for sharing that story.

    Blessings to you!
