Good morning, I hope you are having a great day so far. There is a song called, “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” It is song by Michael W. Smith.
The lyrics are as follows. “Open the eyes of my heart Lord, open the eyes of my heart, I want to see you, I want to see, see you high and lifted up, shinning in the light of your glory, pour out your power in love as we sing holy, holy, holy.
What a beautiful song indeed. I was thinking about this song and its meaning, I asked myself this question are my eyes and heart open? We say we want God to open the eyes of our heart so that we can see God. But the minute God does we ignore what He shows us. There are people in this world that will never pick up the bible to read it, that is a fact, the only way that they are going to see God is through us.
Jesus tells a story of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in. I needed clothes and you did not clothe me; I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’ “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
Family we are an extension of God’s hand to others. How many times have you seen people on the street corners begging for money? We all have seen it, some of us will reach in our purse and give them money, or perhaps buy them a meal. While others will say they need to get a job, or they are just scamming folks.
There was a time in my life when I use to say that they are scamming, and I would not give. Then one day the Lord dealt with me. He told me that it is not my job to know what they will do with the money you give. Let me God deal with their hearts you just be obedient to me.
And so, one day while I was out walking towards a store, I saw a man sitting on the street with a can in his hand. I reached in my purse and give the man money. The man thanked me.
Another instance that happen I was at Walmart, getting a cart when I saw this woman with her baby in a stroller. She had a sign saying she needed formula for her baby, I approached the woman and asked, “what type of formula do you need? And I will go purchase it for you now?
The lady said no, just give me the money. But I did not give her the money. Surely if the woman needed formula and I was willing to purchase it, why would you say no? Baby formula is not cheap. When I left the lady and went inside to do my shopping, I said Lord, was she scamming me?
God’s reply was, “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore, be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. It is easy for a person to think that they are being scam, and so they choose not to give.
You and I will probably never be able to give to every person we see in a day. I do believe that God honors when we give to the less fortunate. I do believe that giving reflects what is in a mans heart. Let us be truthful, we find giving a struggle. No wonder God has so much to say about giving.
Do not let what you think a person might or might not do be your reasoning for not giving. Let God deal with their hearts, you be obedient to what God says.
Remain thirsty and God will pour into you!
