Ephesians 4:29 says’ Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Matthew 12:36-37 says’ But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
We are our worst enemy, that is a given. But what you may not know is that your thoughts, words, attitude, and actions all have the power to block your blessings. A person who controls his tongue can control his whole body also.
This is because the tongue is the most difficult part to control. We know this to be and yet we still have not learned to control our mouth, why is that? Because we really do want to have the last word, no matter what comes from our mouth we want the last word. When we do not control our mouth, we become a reckless person.
Negative thinking keeps us in captivity, we think about the worst instead of having hope. Pride tricks us into thinking we can do it on our own when we need to be humble. Living in the past and refusing to move on only hinders growth and blessings. The past is the past for a reason, stop trying to bring the past hurts and disappointments into the future.
When it comes to guilt, the enemy gets pleasure when we say “If Only” we cannot play the if only game. Yes, we messed up, yes, we missed it, but we must move past yesterday. Do not let Satan keep you on the guilt trip roller coaster. As my mother use to tell us kids “if you can’t say anything nice then don’t say a word.” And I would say, well mom it’s hard to do, and she would say, yes, it is but it will benefit you for the rest of your life if you learn this truth now.
What I did not know was that my mother was teaching me one of God’s many truths. I am not saying that I have complete control over my mouth, but I will say I am better than I use to be. I have learned the art of speaking blessings. Those who push me to see what I will say, look at me asking why aren’t you saying anything? I just let them wonder by keeping my mouth in control. It is best to let the flesh come under the word of God, then for me to speak like a fool.
We all had said things only later to regret what we had spoken. We can ask them to forgive us and they may or may not, but once words are spoken you can’t take them back. Tame that mouth of yours and start receiving your blessings. Because truly we are our worst enemy!!!!
