~Blessed Is The Man~

Psalms 1:1 says, blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.

The psalmist here is talking about two people, the righteous way, and the wicked way.

Here we will need to ask ourselves what does blessed means? The word blessed in scripture means complete happiness! Complete happiness is only found when we as a child of God do not part-take of ungodly activities.

Now let us look at these words a they pertain to this verse.

  • Walking in the counsel of the wicked
  • Standing in the way of sinners
  • Sitting in the seat of mockers

The wicked violates God’s command and they do it Knowingly.

The sinners are people just like you and I before we accepted Jesus Christ whose way of life has felt short of God’s standard for living.

Mockers are people who openly and blatantly show contempt for God’s law. These persons despise God.

Now let us talk about the counsel of the wicked:

Counsel means purpose, a plan. Its own state of mind saying I am going to do what I want to do.

The wicked says I am loose, and I go against the morals of God for I am without Godly control. In other words, they do not let God direct their path. For the march to their own beat. They are controlled by their own desires, and impulses of their very own mind.

The stand-we are not to follow them. We are not to go down their path for we know the ways of the wicked.

The path- which is a course of a journey. One’s behavior and conduct.

Sit-I will not dwell and abide in your evil ways of living.

In seat-No fellowship with making any type of deals or of close associations.

Scoffers- Mock, deride and ridicule the word of God.

Let me explain something, we as Christians are to be around sinners. So that they can see Christ in us. But we are not to partake in any type of works of sinners. So many times, people will read this scripture, and they think they can not be around sinners. For that is not what the scripture verse is saying. Christ hung out with sinners, He had dinner with a thief at his home. But Jesus never once partake of their sinful activities and neither should we.

Have a blessed Wednesday
