Our Bad Habits

on

Romans 12: 2 says “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

We all have bad habits. And we cannot go around saying well mine is not as bad as theirs. Because there is no such thing as one being worse than the other. One thing we all have in common is that we struggle with our bad habits. And why do we struggle? Some may decide to eat good food to live a much healthier life. But the moment we start out we begin to crave desserts. For some it is our attitude that needs adjusting our self-centeredness gets in the way when someone shares a joyous occasion with us.

The reason we cannot change our minds is because you and I see nothing wrong with the way we think. Or process things. We have been in control of our thoughts for years doing as we see fit. And when Jesus tells us that our minds must be changed, we are shocked because we thought we had it right. It’s like you growing up being told that the sky is green and the grass is blue. But if someone told you that the sky is blue and the grass is green you would have a hard time with this because that is not what you was taught.

In this verse Jesus is telling us that no matter how hard we try on our own we will never change our thinking, because only Jesus can transform and renew our minds so that we can be able to know the perfect will of God.

Be Blessed and have a wonderful Saturday.
