Philippians 4:8 says” Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
When you look at a river what do you see? A body of water has many actions, its rushing, its calm and it can take you over. Did you know that our minds and our thinking are like a river? Here in this verse the word of God tells us that when our thoughts begin to take us over we are to immediately think of these things.
I know when things come our way it’s hard for us to immediately think on these words because we are so used to trying to figure things out on our own. Jesus doesn’t want us doing it on our own He want us to go immediately to the Word.
In most cases you and I don’t always go to the word right away until we done all we could do then when our way doesn’t work then we try the word of God.
Have you ever asked yourself why did Jesus tell us to think of these things? Because Jesus knew that in our flesh we would let the rivers of life overwhelm us but if we would turn our mind and thoughts to the this verse and think of these things they would become our raft and we would not drown but will be floating to safety.
Aren’t you so glad that no matter what comes your way that God has a word for it? God bless you and Enjoy your Sunday!
