Today I want to talk to you about “appearances” when it comes to appearances we all like to dress pretty, we decorate our homes, we decorate our offices at work, we even decorate our blog sites to make them look pretty, it’s all about appearances with us and why is that?
Do we really put that much value into looks? I believe we do, we judge things by their appearances, we even judge people by their appearances, we do that because we have a hard time accepting people for who they are.
According to 1 Thessalonians 5:22 says “abstain from all appearance of evil.That means that the very thing that we like about appearance will be our downfall. Remember just because it looks good does not mean it is good, for example if a person has a problem with alcohol they should not be hanging out in places that serve alcohol for they will be tempted to have a drink, if you have a problem with gossiping then you must refrain from others who engage in such matters.
We have an enemy who lurks around us trying to tempt us from the very thing that the Lord delivered you from. So before you say yes to something look at it first to see if it’s a temptation for you, and if it is then walk away. Don’t think that you can not be tempted, because all men can be tempted. That is why we are to avoid everything that has an appearance of evil so we won’t be tempted to fall.

This is a precious word for us, dear Desiray. I had drug and alcohol abuse problems, and though some didn’t understand, and I “looked bad”, I had to stay away from the parties and get togethers where I would be tempted to join in again. I knew I wasn’t strong enough at that time, new in Christ, to just go and abstain. God bless you and thank you for ministering to us in Jesus!
